What's the difference between Free and Premium?¶
Free is genuinely useful: 1 generated routine, daily check-in with streak, up to 5 products, up to 10 progress photos, 12 essential treatments, basic reminders, weekly report, basic badges, and the full hair encyclopedia.
Premium unlocks unlimited products and photos, custom routines (vacation, post-color, protective styles), per-product reminders and goals, the full product dashboard, monthly reports, before/after photo compare, three streak grace days per month, ingredient scanner, the full 100+ treatment library, premium badges, and iCloud sync.
Monthly or yearly?¶
Both unlock the same Premium features. Yearly is the better value. Pick whichever fits — you can switch any time in Settings -> Apple ID -> Subscriptions.
How does the weekly routine work?¶
You set which days are wash days, treatment days, oil days, refresh days, or rest days. Each morning the app shows your task for today. One tap marks it done.
Can I change my routine later?¶
Yes. Edit your routine any time from the Routine tab. Need a completely different schedule for vacation or post-color care? Create a custom routine (Premium).
Can I add products that aren't in the database?¶
Yes. Tap the + button and fill in the name, brand, and category manually.
I missed yesterday — did I lose my streak?¶
If a streak grace day is available, the app protects the day automatically (Free gets 1 per month, Premium gets 3). Otherwise use the backfill option on the Today tab to mark what you actually did.
How often should I take a progress photo?¶
Once a week, same lighting, same angle. Real changes show up over 4-6 weeks. The on-screen oval is a positioning guide — line up inside it for consistency.
Where are my photos stored?¶
Locally on your device, in the app's private storage. They are never uploaded unless you turn on iCloud sync (Premium). If you delete the app, the photos are removed with it.
Does the app analyze my photos or hair?¶
No. We never analyze your photos. We don't run hair scans, identity checks, or AI analysis. The journal is just a place to keep consistent progress photos that you control entirely.
What does the iCloud sync option do?¶
Premium users can turn on iCloud sync from Settings. Your routines, products, check-ins, badges, and journal metadata sync to your private iCloud container, making the same data available across your Apple devices. Photo files stay on-device in V1.
How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?¶
Open Settings -> Restore purchases (or the paywall -> Restore purchases). Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used to buy the subscription.
What if I downgrade from Premium to Free?¶
Nothing is deleted. Existing products, photos, custom routines, and badges remain visible and editable. iCloud sync is paused. If you have more than 5 products or 10 photos, you simply can't add new ones until you upgrade again or reduce the count below the Free limit.
How do I cancel my subscription?¶
Settings -> Apple ID -> Subscriptions on your iPhone, then tap the Hair Routine subscription and choose Cancel.
How do I disable notifications?¶
Settings -> Reminders. Each notification type has its own toggle.
