Frequently asked¶
What's the difference between Free and Premium?¶
Free is genuinely useful: the 7-question quiz, AM/PM check-ins with a forgiving streak, one personalized routine, up to 5 products, 30 progress photos (front angle), AM and PM reminders, the trigger journal, a weekly summary, and basic badges.
Premium unlocks unlimited products and photos, multiple routines (vacation, post-treatment, cycle 22–28), multi-angle photos and side-by-side compare, the barcode scanner with Open Beauty Facts lookup, ingredient compatibility checks, trigger correlations and monthly insights, PDF export for your dermatologist, treatment mode (Accutane / Tretinoin / Spironolactone), per-product reminders, manual spot annotation, premium badges, the lock-screen widget, iCloud sync, and one silent grace day per 30 days.
Monthly or yearly?¶
Both unlock the same Premium features. Yearly is the better value (about $3.33/month vs. $6.99 monthly). Pick whichever fits — you can switch any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Does the app analyze my face or count my spots automatically?¶
No automatic scan. The on-screen oval is a positioning guide so each photo is taken from the same angle — there is no face scan, identity check, or biometric matching.
If you tap Analyze photo, that single photo is sent to our analysis service, scored for severity, and discarded. We do not run analysis in the background. We do not store or train models on your photos. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How does the routine layering work?¶
The app orders products thinnest-to-thickest automatically: cleanser → toner → treatment → serum → eye → moisturizer → SPF (AM only). Spot treatments are logged separately so they don't crowd the routine.
Why is my retinoid flagged with my BHA?¶
Retinoid plus AHA/BHA can over-irritate. The ingredient checker suggests alternating nights instead of stacking — your barrier will thank you. Verdicts say "may not be ideal," never "bad for your skin." (Premium feature.)
Can I add products that aren't in the database?¶
Yes. Tap the + button and fill in the name, brand, and category manually. Premium users can also scan a barcode and import details from Open Beauty Facts.
I missed yesterday — did I lose my streak?¶
Probably not. Late-night grace runs until 3 AM, so an after-midnight log counts for yesterday. If you forgot, use "Did you do PM last night?" on the Today tab to backfill. Premium gets one silent grace day per 30 days that auto-protects a missed day.
How often should I take a progress photo?¶
Once a week, same lighting, same angle. Real changes show up over 4–6 weeks. Line your face up inside the on-screen oval — there's a ghost overlay of your last shot to help you match it.
Where are my photos stored?¶
Locally on your device, in the app's private storage. They are excluded from automatic cloud backups by default. They are never uploaded unless you turn on photo iCloud sync (Premium) or tap Analyze photo on a specific shot.
What's treatment mode?¶
If you tell the app you're on Accutane, Tretinoin, Spironolactone, or Doxycycline, it tracks day-count, common side effects, and lets you log how you're feeling. It is not medical guidance — your dermatologist still runs the show. (Premium feature.)
How do I export data for my dermatologist?¶
Insights → Export PDF generates a derm-ready report covering severity trend, products used, check-ins, and trigger notes for the date range you pick. (Premium feature.)
How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?¶
Open Profile → Restore purchases (or the paywall → Restore purchases). Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used to buy the subscription.
What if I downgrade from Premium to Free?¶
Nothing is deleted. Existing products, photos, routines, treatment-mode logs, and badges remain visible and editable. iCloud sync is paused. New items beyond Free limits (more than 5 products, more than 30 photos) are gated until you upgrade or reduce the count.
How do I cancel my subscription?¶
Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone, tap the Acne Tracker subscription, then Cancel.
How do I delete my data?¶
Profile → Privacy → Delete all data wipes every check-in, photo, routine, and trigger log on your device. Or delete the app — that removes local data too.
How do I disable notifications?¶
Reminders in the app. Each notification type has its own toggle.
