Terms of Use

Effective date: 2026-05-28

By installing or using Gut Diary ("the App"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

You may not:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the App
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the App
  • Remove or modify any proprietary notices
  • Use the App in violation of any law

Subscriptions and purchases

The App offers Pro access through auto-renewing subscriptions:

  • Pro Monthly — billed monthly, no free trial
  • Pro Yearly — billed annually (includes a 7-day free trial)

Both unlock the same Pro features. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your iTunes account is charged at the price displayed at purchase.

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; the App does not issue partial refunds for unused time.

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. Pricing, availability, and refunds are governed by Apple's terms. Refund requests can be submitted at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If your Pro subscription ends, your existing data — food logs, symptom entries, bowel logs, and all other tracked data — is preserved. iCloud backup is paused, and Free-tier limits apply only to newly viewed history (existing entries are retained on-device in full).

Content you create

Anything you enter in the App — your gut profile, food logs, symptom entries, bowel logs, photos, and notes — belongs to you. We do not have access to it. If you enable iCloud backup, your data is stored in your private Apple iCloud container; we still cannot access it. If you delete the App and have iCloud backup off, your local data is removed with it.

Health disclaimer

Gut Diary is an organisational and tracking tool, not medical advice. Symptom trends, trigger correlations, FODMAP ratings, Bristol Stool Scale entries, and adherence summaries are informational references based on your own logged data, not clinical guidance. The App does not diagnose digestive conditions, prescribe diets or treatments, or claim to cure, reverse, or improve any health condition.

If you are managing a serious digestive condition such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or coeliac disease, always follow the advice of your gastroenterologist, dietitian, or licensed medical professional. For any urgent symptoms — severe pain, rectal bleeding, significant unintentional weight loss, or persistent vomiting — stop logging and seek medical attention immediately.

No warranty

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of your use of the App.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date above will reflect the latest revision. Continuing to use the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to your principal residence, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where superseded by mandatory consumer protection laws.
